I'm replacing a quarter panel on my Cutlass, and am wondering if I should bother to take the E-coat off the inside of the quarter, and re-paint it with something quality, like POR-15/chassis black, or flat black Rustoleum mixed with hardener. I'd do DP-90, but my garage is too cold here in Missouri. What do you all think is the best route? Anyone had luck with Rustoleum for aplications under the hood or in the trunk? Lemme know what you'd do..

Thanks.

Nothing you put on is going to be much better, except a good quality epoxy. You can't go wrong by stripping it and painting epoxy, but it's a lot of extra work for nothing.

Just an FYI, POR-15 and quality shouldn't be used in the same sentence :). If you want to paint it something, scuff it, shoot some epoxy on there and then shoot some enamel on it. If it is true E coating and not the imitation, I'd just leave it alone. To find out, wipe the coating with a rag soaked in laquer thinner. if it comes off, finish the job, if not leave it alone.

So you should leave the E coat on the full 1/4's when replacing them and do nothing else to inner side of the 1/4????? Go easy I am learning
