: Dynomax Ultraflow Bullets
Junkyard Dawg Jul 20th, 04, 10:43 PM I'm trying to gather as much info on these race mufflers as I can before I buy a set.
From what I know they look like mini glasspacks and have a straght thru perforated design. But of course aren't glasspacks made the same?
From what I've been told they sould like open headers at WOT. I've been told they don't cackle like glasspacks.
But what about part throttle cruising? How do they sound? Do they sound like a 90's full size Chevy truck with a V8? (the rumble)
Also longetivety? How well do they hold up? Or do they burn out fast like glasspacks?
Ron454 Jul 21st, 04, 2:13 AM They are straight through. Just like a glasspack.....but they don't have louvered cuts hanging into the flow path.
They will take the bark off the sound.....and actually act like a header extension.

You can see how it looks on the inside of a 2.5" Bullet.
KS64SS Jul 21st, 04, 7:31 AM We run a set on a 67 Chevelle with a 468 BB in it and it might as well be open headers, at cruise-in's it's just a cop magnet. It's LOUD at idle, cruise or wot. The edge is taken off of the sound somewhat but it's still to loud for a street car, I believe the race bullets were designed for race classes that required a muffler, at least the is no flow restrictions in there! If your car will see more strip than street they might work out for you.
505Nova Jul 21st, 04, 8:06 AM Those are nice mufflers but they are loud. If you're looking for something a little quieter, but low restriction get their race ovals. The ovals are heavier but a better street muffler in regards to being less of a cop magnet.
I've got a video of my Nova with them on if you want to hear them. This is the 4" bullets that exit about where the drivers door ends (pointing out to the sides).

Junkyard Dawg Jul 21st, 04, 8:37 AM Actually I have the race ovals already and they're too quiet. I'm kind of digging the hot rod sound without choking the exaust flow which is why I thought the bullets might be it.
blaauboer Jul 21st, 04, 4:28 PM WOW...The Nova sounds great........ graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Malibu69SS396 Jul 21st, 04, 5:10 PM Hey 505Nova, ditto on the Awsome sound! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
knudsonm Jul 21st, 04, 7:31 PM I'll be running the Dynomax 17296 muffler on my 454. It's 6" in diameter and only 16" long with 3" in/out. I hope quiet enough to get by on teh street.
Matt Leuck Jul 21st, 04, 8:16 PM I have 1-5/8" headers going into a 3" in 2.5" out DrGas X pipe, Dynomax Race Bullets, and tailpipes.
Here are two video clips to give you an idea of what they sound like.
This first one is with the bullets attached straight to the X pipe... and dumped right there.

And this one is the Bullets with the tailpipes, just how I drive it around.

505Nova Jul 22nd, 04, 10:04 AM Thank's guys, glad you like my Nova. There's quite a bit about it on my web page at 71 Nova Web Page (http://www.iola.com/71nova).
I haven't updated the page for a while though, just got done putting a chute on it, switched the tires to 28x13.5 ET Streets and put a set of cal-trac split mono springs on it. Going to see if it hook up any better this Friday weather permitting.
