The car is a 67 chevelle SS. The problem is when I turn on the headlights, the front parks go out. I have already replaced the headlight switch. Anybody?

That doesn't seem like a problem to me. As I remember these old cars when I was growing up, they were designed to do that. Keeping the park lights on along with the headlights was a latecomer idea. The other guys with 67s should be able to tell you if the 67s are made this way.

I just read in a past post that this is normal up until 1968. Please let me know if otherwise. Thanks!

As I remember this is correct for a 1967, that the parking lights go out when the head lights are on. Our '67 is the same way.

I believe when all the manufacturers went to side marker lights in '68 is when this changed to have the front parking lights on with the headlights for additional visibility and safety.

I am sure somone here knows more of the specifics. Hope this helps.

That option came into effect after 67 there is a purple wire on headlite switch close to dash reverse it and plug the wire in available slot in the back of switch closest to firewall and voila

That is correct!
There was a post & instructions here a few years ago on how the wire the headlight switch so the parking lights would remain on with the headlights.
A simple procedure, IIRC.

I found out about this on our '52 Chevy, "Ol Yeller". Drove me nuts until someone told me about it on another web site.
