I finally have the 72 Elky back together and on the street. It's not running right and I think it needs a tune up. I got the engine used with about 10K on it since it was rebuilt. I don't know anything about the engine other than it has a mild build. I friend bought a Nova with it in it. It ran good but didn't have enought power for him so he pulled it and sold it to me. I put it in 2 years ago but just now was able to finish putting a 700R4 in it. The engine had Autolite 24 plugs in it. It didn't match anything as far as spark and heat range that I could find that should be in the car. So I'm not sure if I should stick with a new set of the same # Autolites or go with something else. I was told to use AC Delco 2's with the old engine.
So at this point know nothing other than it has a slightly lumpy idle, and I'm running headers, Mallory electronic ignition and an Eldebrock carb and Performer manifold. Does anyone have a suggestion of what plug and # I might run in it?

Hey mrchet, any parts store can give you the stock plug numbers for the motor but, if that elky has been sitting for two years are you sure your gas in the tank is any good? I got my elky as a project thats been sitting for 4 or 5 years and I siphoned out as much gas as I could, but after putting in 5 gal. of fresh gas it just ran like crap. I finally dropped the tank and washed it out. the new gas runs real good now. Jim
