I would post in interiors, but I thought many of you surfing performance section use non-stock seats in your rides.

I'd like to install my front buckets in my 68 today, just unsure of what grade of bolts and hardware I need for install. The seats are out of a 93 Firebird GTA. I have some flat stock to use as fat washers on the underside of the car to spread out the load.

Any ideas and recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks, John

John,

Be sure to post up some pics when you have them in. I have some seats out of a 93 camaro that are going in my 69.

Thanks,
Brian

I used grade 8 bolts with grade 5 fender washers. I think the bolt size I used was 3/8". The force it would take to shear 4 3/8" or even 1/4" would be very high. Use nylon locking nuts!

Grade 5's easily good enough unless your mounting a racing seat with a 5 point hitch attached then I would use 8's.

Thanks for your input, guys.

I went with 7/16 bolts, and thanks for the tip on the nylon lock nuts.

'Cause you asked, here's a couple of photos...before and after. :)

Just need to install the RCI harnesses, and we're legal....sort of.

most stock seats are held in by 5/16" grade 5 bolts.
