Hey fellow TCers has any one used a 1 in spacer on a dyno? My engine combo is a 1972 402BB bored .030 over 9:5/1 comp closed chamber heads oval port, large valves. Cam is comp H270 magnum, using the stock cast iron flat intake and the stock rejeted rochester carb.It pulled 410HP and 480 lb ft torque on the dyno. Not bad for stock intake and carb. My question is since my intake is very flat or low I was thinking of using a 1 In. 4 hole spacer to increase runner length. Is it worth doing? Summit has a 1 inch 4 hole spacer. How much performance do you think I will gain? Facts and thoughts would be appreciated!

Can`t say what it will do in your application but I can tell you what a 2" spacer did in my case: 30hp! (I forget what it did to TQ as my dyno sheet is back at the office).
All you can do is try it and find out...good luck!

No dyno test here, but I went with a low-rise 3x2 intake and used both a phenolic spacer and a thick gasket under each carb to get some height back. It's not the same as raised runners, but why not. Try it, you might like it!
Fab one from wood and see.

Nice dyno numbers graemlins/thumbsup.gif Is that with headers?
A 4 hole spacer would be a great idea with that intake..

Thanks for the replys, yes that is with 2 in headers. That was all the machine shop had , I am know running 1 3/4 in the car. Any other thoughts or dyno results would be great! Thanks again.

If you aren't trying to look stock loose that manifold. Anything is better. The problem is the runners actually go up hill in the low manifold so a spacer is really not going to help. That said I have never tried one on your manifold a 4 hole couldn't hurt and it might pick up some more torque.

Mike thanks for your thoughts I did not realize that the runners run up hill. I am trying to keep the stock apperance for show reasons. That is why I was thinking of the spacer. Has any one run a spacer on a stock low manifold, and did you pick up performance on dyno or seat of the pants feel? Tahnks again, Gary.
