Harold, I'm looking at the 401A3LUN solid for smallblocks on the Lunati site, I think this is one of your cams? Specs are 272/282, 238/248, .485/.503. I am wanting to ditch my Comp XE262 for something that will make more power. Current combo is

355 Chevy
Domed pistons, 72cc Dart IE180 heads, about 9.75 compression
Performer RPM intake
650 Holley DP
1.52 Comp full roller rockers
Headers
3.42 gears
2400 stall

3850# Chevelle has run 13.54 at 99mph with a Comp XE262 hydraulic. The comp specs at 262/270, 218/224, and .462/.469. Will this car go quicker with the 401A3? Would it like a little more stall, 2800-3000 maybe? I do have a Carter 172 fuel pump with a -8 tank to pump and another -8 pump to carb. I'd like to limit engine speed to 6000 rpm's max. Thanks in advance.

Mike,
Just a FYI for comparision...
the flat, solid cam in my 383 Camaro/Chevelle was a Comp 12-221-5. Specs were 280/285, 242/250 @ .050, .507/.532 lift, LSA 108, ran 1.6 rockers on the intake (.541 net lift). Comp recommended a 10 CR, 3000 stall, and "Good for a heavy car".
I'm in NO WAY trying to persuade you out of choosing the Lunati/Harold cam above. I think it a good choice. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Just giving you something to compare to since you've heard this one run.

Bill, was that cam OK with power brakes?

Yes, but marginal honestly...about 10" at idle. A little higher when running the 950HP carb.
And remember...it was a 383.

Granted, this was in dreadful air, and I still haven't got it tuned to 60' well, but I don't think it's going to turn out any better (mid-13's) than my Dart IE180/XE262 motor. My Dart motor has more static compression. I'm thinking of putting a bigger cam in the Dart motor, putting it back in the Chevelle, and taking the AFR motor back out to re-check the cam phasing and DCR math. I think I must be doing something wrong, I feel like it should make more power.
