Newbe here, Just got a 72 and started restoring it. When I was at Cruzin the Coast in Biloxi Ms. this past fall I saw a lot of Chevelles with different chrome on them. My question is: Is there a chrome trim I can buy for the drip rails just above the doors? I so where? And how does it attach to the drip rails. My 72 did not have any chrome on it when i bought it.

Putting chrome on. Is it a personal preference?
1) around the wheel wells
2) on the drips rails
3) UNDER THE DOOR. Why is the chrome missing under the doors on most of the Chevelles I see?
Thanks George

Most of it is just personal preference. Unless you are going to restore it back to original. Then it would depend on what your car was originally. They came with different trim levels. You had the base model chevelle, that had very little chrome. Then there was the malibu trim level, and then the SS. The drip rail molding should be avaliable through most suppliers like goodmark, ground up, NPD, OPG, or even on e-bay. The molding you are refering to "under the door" is malibu trim. It did not come on the SS. As you probably know most people clone their malibus into SS so they don't put it back on. Even some that aren't cloned(like mine and my husbands)don't use them either. It just depends on what you like. Same goes for the wheel wells. Some like them some don't.

Thanks for the tips on the chrome and web site. I really don't know a lot about Chevells since I work on corvettes. I just bought my first one and now I am really getting into it. I am getting ready to prime her this weekend and bring her over to the interior ship for new new interior.

If your car is a base model Chevelle and has good door panels they are worth a lot of money to someone restoring a "Heavy Chevy".

When I bought my car the seller said it was rust free,:D Once it sanded the primer off, I found some rust. It was not as bad as it could ahve been, i replaced the bad sections and welded the soma area. Now it looks relly nice.
