I promised my wife I would never take it off. She might want to rethink that :D

Any ideas?

Oh dude..... you are in SOOOOO much trouble now

I would take it to a reputable jeweler (do you even know anyone reputable at all?) and let them polish it out. They may have to grind it out, fill it in with gold and polish it.

Strange though, after my wife saw what I do in the garage, I had to promise her I would NEVER wear my wedding ring.

BTW, you get and old daily driver yet?

I worked in a machine shop at a local factory with a guy that made his wife the same promise. He no longer has a finger to put the ring back on. There are some times when it just has to come off! (the ring that is);)

Were you welding up some metal shelving to make room in that godforsaken garage of yours ?

As said above, a jeweller is your best bet.

As also said above, rings stay on the nightstand when I work with welders, power tools or rusty old cars. Had a few close ones myself. Makes a helluva mess when they catch and cut.

Ditto! This might be a little off topic, but at my work it is MANDATORY that all jewelry...rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc...ARE REMOVED!!!

I cannot stress this enough. I could find a nice picture on the net of someone who had the skin of their finger pulled off of and the bone of their finger exposed if you'd like.

Sometimes we get complacent but please always think SAFETY first.

BTW if any of you have long hair make sure you pull it back out of the way.

Wear welder's gloves. I had the same thing happen. Luckily, my ring is not a smooth design, and I was able to pick it out with an xacto knife under a microscope, and smooth it out.

YEP...I'm sure that order is DOD wide. The minute that ALMAR came out...I showed it to my wife. She's been mad at ME...ever since.

I haven't worn my wedding ring in years.

if you damaged gold with welding splatter ..... a trip to the jeweler is in your future :(

Had a guy that worked in a print room...he was cleaning these huge rollers. Dont it a million times...well for whatever reason, his hand got sucked in, and burnt the hell out of it. Doctors said they didnt know if the ring saved his hand or made it worse. I think I just wont get married so I wont have to worry about it hahaha

Good idea

One time I got my watch caught between the battery cable starter post and the frame on a 2-71 Jimmy diesel and it got red hot in a hurry. :(

A friend jumped off a low roof and caught his ring, it pulled his finger off.

Yep, since I own a machine shop no rings while working.

I've done this before. I picked the big chunks out and the rest of them eventually wore/fell out.

I've gained so much weight since I got married, cutting the finger off is the ONLY way it would come off. :D

And now you know why I wear my wedding band on a thin gold chain around my neck!

(Uh Honey... do you want a 9-fingered husband, or is it OK to take this off when I'm working?)
