My friend has a '67 Beaumont (Canadian equivalent to Chevelle Malibu) all original car with 283V8, 2bbl. Rochester carb and Powerglide auto tranny. His performance is poor and needs a kit. I have sugested a AC Delco kit for 'perfect fit' including accelerator pump. Only problem is that his tag is missing. Can he get the right kit without this info?? What about casting or other numbers on the carb?? Any suggestions??
Thanks

If(!) the carb is original, you could just buy a kit based on the application. Be VERY DAMNED CAREFUL to match up the gaskets so you're assured of using the right ones.

If it's not original, you could buy a kit for the original carb, and be VERY DAMNED CAREFUL to match up the gaskets so you're assured of using the right ones. And if you find that there is no matching gasket...you've got problems.

"Mechanics" who remove 'n' discard the carb tag should have their fingers broken with their own wrenches.

I prefer Standard "Jiffy Kits" to OEM, but that's as much personal preferance as anything.

They are so simple it will be a snap ta rebuild it!!!!

I rebuilt one in a motel bathroom sink one time when I was a kid back years ago working on the RR...

Check out www.partsamerica.com (http://www.partsamerica.com) for a kit. I've had good results with them. Then you can take the part # to an Advance Auto and have them order one for you.
