I have a Vette buddy that wants my 840 closed chamber iron rectangulars and the Eddy performer rpm intake.
If I sell off this top end package..what aftermarket aluminum head would you recommend?
I do not want to bust into the short block. Can this be done?
The short block has factory replacement trw-l2268f30 pistons.
35.5 cc,.266" dome.11.25/1 with a 106 cc chamber.These domes are for a closed chamber by design.
My soild flat tappet specs out at .595" gross(.022" lash).248*@.050.110 lsa,106 icl.
My biggest concern..obviously is piston top to chamber interferance and the effects of a larger chamber reducing my static cr with this cam.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

ask the manufacturer of the head directly if whatever head you pick out if the chamber will clear CC pistons. They should know, especially since you have the TRW number.

See if you can find a set of 291 heads they are a pretty good improvement over the 840 and are still factory closed chamber.

what TOM said 2x
most aftermarket Aluminum heads should clear the L2268 dome.....the manuf should be able to tell you. Most of the closed to open chamber interference issues are those encountered when going to GM open chamber ovals

I am running a 427 with those pistons and Merlin heads. 119cc chambers oval ports and I ended up with just over 10 to 1 with .040 gasket and I also did the clay thing and had plenty of clearance.
