Just installed some Patriot headers. (I've been told they are Hedman knock-offs.) They fit pretty good but the #5 cylinder tube (or the driver side number 2 from the firewall tube) makes contact with the steering shaft. Not much, but it is making a mark on the shaft.
What aggravates me is that the tube sticks out much farther than it should. There is no reason for this to be a problem.
Rant #2: the driver's side header extends down further than the passenger side. So much so, that there is a ground clearance issue. We solved it by taking a Sawzall to the street adaptor (I think that's what its called, it bolts to the collector) and cutting off a good 2 to 3."
Now, with all that said, we used an infrared, noncontact pyrometer to check the temp of those headers. Damn! They run a lot cooler than the cast iron manifolds that were on there. (I wish I could tell you how much, but I don't remember what the cast irons were at.) :(
Hokay, I feel better now.
Quick edit: I forgot to mention that I am using copper gaskets. Those copper gaskets are noticeably thicker than the O.E. paper gaskets.
