: Which Iron Eagle heads? also quench?

I have two questions in one thread here smile.gif
I've got underway building a 357 SBC for my chevelle, the block and crank are at the machine shop right now getting prepped. I was originally going to buy GM Vortec heads, but I've since settled on Dart Iron Eagle's instead, partially because I already have a non-vortec intake that I'd like to use, and from what I've read the Dart's should be better anyway.
There are quite a few options as far as intake runner and chamber size though in the summit catalog, I'm not quite sure which ones I'd need. This is my first engine build myself, and I could use some experienced advice.

here's the motor specs thus far, just a pretty
basic 350 build:
.040 over bore, stock stroke, 357 ci.
Keith Black Hyper's, stock rods
stock cast crank, polished
block decked for pistons .005 in the hole
Performer RPM with Q-jet
solid roller cam, undecided...Lunati 282?
CR goal, around 10.25:1
power goal, around 400hp/400+tq

I'm looking for suggestions as to what Iron Eagle heads would work best for my compression and power goals. Also, can someone explain to me exactly what 'quench' is and how it should be determined? It has been suggested to me that I should go with .035 quench height. I must admit I'm not sure what that means.
When I get the heads nailed down, I hope to bug UDHarold for some cam specs :D

thanks!

Quench is the distance from the flat part on the top of the piston to the bottom of the cylinder head when the piston is at TDC.

If you are going solid roller than I will assume this isn't for a daily driver. The 64cc heads with the 200cc intake runners and 2.02/1.60 valves would do well. It will make 400hp easy.

It's not a daily driver, more of a 'weekend warrior'...but it will make some road trips on occasion, and perhaps a road race course or two.

I think a couple guys here run very similar combos and get 20mpg on the highway.
