: Best Vacuum gauge?

I need to get a vacuum gauge so I can figure out my Power Valve. I won't be hooking it up in my car so I don't need anything fancy. I am more worried about accuracy. Will a cheap $11 summit gauge work as good as the $40+ auto meter ones?

Hi Brad. I suggest getting a gauge with a large face. So that you will be able to read it easily while driving. as far as who you get it from I dont think it really matters. If you are concerned about accuracy go to a local shop/garage and ask a tech to compare it to one of theirs and see how it fares. I believe they all will be close. also you/they can test it with a hand held Vac pump. I think even a cheap one would get you close enough. Good luck

I agree, get a large face. I have a 5" Marsh gauge that works well.

I think that you'll find that larger gauges will read a tad lower than small gauges. But that's OK, since usually you're just using it as a reference. My 5" gauge reads about 1" Hg lower than my dinky 1.5" gauge.
