Good evening all. Newbie here.
I wanted to get advice on drilling holes for fender emblems as opposed to tape. I know it is unwise to drill through your paint (as DanD) mentioned in a post, but if I cut of the posts on the "SS" emblems, there does not seem to be a lot of flat surface area for the tape to adhere.
Three questions...
1. These Emblems are nice quality GM restore parts (from TrimParts), and the back is not flat. They have a concaved area for the letter deminsion of the "S". So there is only a sliver of and edge that is flat. Is that enough surface area for the tape?
2. Also, once applied...would you not see the tape even if you cut with an exact-o right to the edge of the "S"? Or is the tape really thin?
3. If drilling...Can you use masking tape over your paint and drill verly slowly while increasing the size of your bit until you reach the desired diameter?
4.Am I an idiot and just asking for trouble? :D
Sorry for the long posting...I just want it to look proper.
Thanks so much.
