I went live with this this morning, and the guys on lil borther's site are having a ball with it, so I thought I'd share it here too.

If you want to see my garage and my cars, and possibly even catch me working out there... hit this link:

It will want you to OK the install of an avtiveX control or two, and then the video, camera controls, and possibly even audio will come up!

On tap for today and tomorrow will be yanking the 383 & TKO out of the vert, and stripping the engine for head and cam (HR) swap.

if you're using firefox as I do it won't come up. Generally, FF and Active X don't mix. I hit it with IE which I rarely use because it's a virus, worm and malware attractor. It asked me to install a A-X control which I allowed (another extremely rare event) and it came up. It's real slow the first time for me. I waited long enough and it came up.

I thought that it wasn't working for me either. After a little fiddling and an extended auto pan, I discovered that it was just dark. You know, if you want the free surveilance that comes with our voyerism, than you should leave something a bit brighter than a lava light on.

What happens when two different people are viewing, and they pan in opposite directions?

That's really cool. I could put that in the barn and watch the sheep. :disco:

Mornin guys, and happy new year.

Jay, what the heck do you got her apart for? You gonna change the cam so you can drive her again?

From what I been told, it's not very firefox freindly, but works fine with IE.

Cam is a Dlink 5300G. It's the $300 model. It's wireless but does have a power plug, and has pan tilt zoom and audio. It seems to allow maybe 6 online? Hard to say, starts eating up my bandwidth pretty hard at that level. I've dialed down the frame rate and video quality some, that didn't hurt the picture quality, but did allow more online.

As far as the technical stuff, the camera has a builtin web server, all I did to put it online for this test was open a port in my router and let people know how to get into it. Eventually, I'll put a streaming video window on my eventual website.

The lights are back on now. I'll be out there yanking the motor after breakfast.

I actually bought it for surveilence, but this seems like more fun.

Hey you should put the new cam next to the distributor on the bench, then you'd have a cam cam. HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAH

Haha, I keep trying to turn left to see the distributor and someone else wants to go right to see the camaro.

It certainly acting like it's on, Tom, though it is bogging very badly. I checked, and my wan ip has not changed, so the link is still good. I have no idea how many are on it, and I can only access it on a local ip...

I'm gonna reboot it just to make sure.

FYI, I got the headers and X brace off this morning, blowed my snow, and am off to Walmart with the wife for some badly needed grocery's. Cam will stay on, but won't be any action to watch until later.

Anyone know where I left the long 3/8" bolts for the engine stand?
