I toy with the idea of putting one of those or a ls1 into the nomad, especially out of a performance car like a 9c1/ss impala or camaro/firebird. Drivability should be outstanding. You should reap some serious benefit from new tech innards. Particularly when you get rid of all of that bothersome smog equipment, definately keep us informed.

I've got one in my '83 Elky. It's a '95 Vette TPI with 4L60E tranny. It's a blast to drive; you wouldn't believe the throttle response! 21 MPG highway, about 15 MPG city.

I've been working on one. Expensive engines to work on! It's a 96 LT1 with a hot cam kit and new lifters. I also worked on the heads. Hopefully I'll get it into something soon to try it out. I was considering stroking it if it worked well. I want to get the intake polished before I finish putting it together. I've been seriously looking at a new project which would put the project this engine was going into on hold. The new project would have an LS1 though!

nice but rem if you think the lt1 is pricey you should look in to the ls1  not nice to the pocket book. I just had the intake powder coatedred and i polished up the top. I talked to some ppl about polishing the intake runner and i was told not to do it because it helps the fuel mix but to each there own. good luck on what you decide.

I'm getting through with the finishing touches on mine. `96 LT-1 with the 4l60e in my `65 chevelle.
Pretty much a smooth deal, yet I did go through a significant learning curve with all the electrical. I've only had it around the block a few times and it seems like it's going to be a great car. I still need to calibrate the electronic speedo and a little touch up to the trunk lid. If I hadn't started on this 2 years ago I would have certainly went with the LS1 instead. There are a lot of sources out there in the world to help with this, not to mention the great source of experience and brain power on this web site. Have fun and good luck.

yah but from everything i have read the lt1 has out proformed the ls1 when you $ to $. also the lt1 kills the ls1 in torque and that where are big cars need it. From all the local guys on the street ans strip love the lt1 over the ls1 they say the ls1 is more for crusing but if you want the raw powew feel it the lt1 but its all what you want. also the lt1 is way cheep to do up but thes just my 2 cents. good luck on your car

I'm talking polishing the outside of the intake, not the inside.

I've got my eye on the complete drivetrain and suspension and brakes and wheels from a C5 Vette for about $3700 Cnd. Seems like too good a deal to pass up. I've not yet figured out what to put it into but I'm going to try to put it all into something.

If you can get all of that stuff from a C5 Vette for $3700 Canadian, grab it and run. I paid $2800 for jujst my Vette engine and tranny, and figured I stole it at that price (16,000 miles).
