Hello, I'm Ron from Michigan. I used to drag race a blown Vette at Detroit Dragway until they tore it down in 1968. I really miss the old track.
I am thinking about buying a chevelle to work on. I like the 67 or 68 Camaro also. I like the Chevelle because it has a frame and the factory 4 link will help me "hook up" better.
Thanks for the invite. I'll keep my eyes out for a cool ride. :beers:

Any old hotrodder is welcome here!

Sounds like you haven't riden in a classic Chevy for a while. Let me remind you:

Camaros- Uni-body w/ Leaf springs, bouncy, bouncy bouncy! Shocks won't fix the problem.

Chevelles - Full frame with a soft, nimble ride. As you said, easier to hook-up and without loss of ride quality.

Hi Ron, I used to drag race a Valiant slant 6 on Wednesday nights for five bucks at Fremont Drag Strip until they tore it down in 1988. I really miss the old track. LOL

Welcome to Team Chevelle

Welcome Ron
Don't listen to John5469 :noway:
A 68 is better looking  from the rear and that's all anyone is going to see anyway. As your leaving them the your exhaust fumes

????
The Detroit Dragway was not torn down in 1968.
The original strip was around until well into the 1990's

Yep you got me! It was 1998 When Detroit Dragway was torn down. Typo error.
And OK, I'm sold on the Chevelle instead of the Camaro.
Now, do I look for a 67 that I like cause of the square lines or do I go with the wife's nod on a 70 SS.
Now if I go for the 70SS do all the SS's have hood pins? I have some books but I still can't tell. There are a lot of Rascals out there just trying to scam ya. That's why I really miss drag racing. Run what ya brung! No Scamming (ha ha)

I have a 70, if I could afford the time and money a 67 would be my next Chevelle. I believe the hood pins were part of the SS package in 70 not that that means much. Hoods and a lot of other parts could have been replaced. Don't pay extra for a true SS unless everything is correct and it's documented. Even then beware the documentation, it can be faked as well.

Oh, and welcome. Camaro or Chevelle this is a great place to hang out, tremendous amount of car knowledge lurking around here.
