The trim tag on my 69SS reads as follows:

ST69 13637 KAN 2317158 BDY

TR791 71 EPNT
L
O1D 08836

I know the car was a bucket seat car with parchment interior, LeMans Blue body with a parchment vinly top. wondeing what the L under the 71 paint code means. Thanks.

By the way I have started the frame off on this car finally after 6 years of the car sitting so far it looks like one quarter will need replacement drivers floor board (and trans shifter tunnel from my father in law hacking to get one of his dumb dogs unstuck) rear filler between the taillights and drivers rocker (again my Father in law hit it while trying to move it ) I will take tons of pictures, hopefully I will find the build sheet.

The "L" seems to signify an SS car from the Kansas plant although it's not proven alot of the doccumented SS's have the L on the trim tag.

As I've said many times, I am a confirmed believer that the Kansas trim tag's [L] original purpose,
..... was simply a way to signify the "Super Sport" cars ......
... I have no proof ... but, I've never seen a [1969-1972] SS in person, without the [L] code ..

If the [L] did'nt mean anything, then I wonder why,
did'nt they put the "L" on all the cars built at the Leeds/Kansas factory ... or ...
... why did they put the "L" on any of these cars, in the first place .....

The only Kansas/Leeds built vehicles, that I've seen, that came with the [L], on the trim tag, are ...
1969-1972 Chevelle Super Sport ....
1969-1972 El Camino Super Sport .....
1971 Monte Carlo Super Sport ...............
1971 GMC Sprint SP (Special Performance) Invader 454 ...................................... Don.
