Has anybody had problems with their frame cracking above the rear shock mounts. I see that a crack their has been been fixed before and I had to fix it again. why does this happen.

does the car have airshocks? or did it have them? Sometimes running the car for a long time with a bad shock bushing will cause this, without a bushing the shock hammers eventually stressing and causing the crack. I've seen fullsize pickups crack like a spiderweb around shockmounts when the bushing has gone bad.

Birt , do you have air shocks on the rear ? If so they can put exta stress on that area when pumped up full or even 3/4 full. Had the same thing happen to a 69 Chevelle Malibu I have. I had to get that section from a donar car and weld it in mine was so bad. Mark --------------------------------------1968 Chevelle Malibu (Weekend Cruiser) 1968 El Camino (Daily Driver)
