Hey,
I was on eBay today looking for some performance upgrades for my 327. I already got the nitrous, but you know how it is (It can always be faster). So I was looking a blowers and superchargers and up came a turbo kit for a chevy small block just like my own. Is that possible to have a turbo kit for a chevy? If so how much of a horsepower increase will that give me and is that to import "ricey"?? Let me get your imput. Thanks!!!
Regards,
Brian

Turbos can definitely be added to Chevys...
My high school buddy's dad had a Turbo'd full-size Blazer...
I think the Supercharger is better because there's no lag, it adds instant power... The Turbos usually take some time to build up boost. I think with a heavier car like a Chevelle, a supercharger is probably better for the street.
Too Ricer??? Maybe. That croud tends to like the Turbo over the blower mainly because of the sounds (waste gate popping, etc...), it seems to be nothing about the actual performance...
I think the Turbos are more difficult to install (exhaust routing, etc) than a blower, and when they are hot (exhaust and boost) you usually can't just shut the engine off, but need to let it idle to help supply oil (cooling) to the turbo...
HP increases will depend on the size and the boost levels... Buying a turbo off Ebay, are you sure its sized for your engine???

A turbo is more efficient, and a lot of blowers are noisy also. A turbo is not too ricer, Anything you can do to make more power is cool. Nitrous is not cheating. Blowers are not lame. Turbo's are not ricy. It's all about putting a grin on your face, do it any way you can.

thanks for the help....
i was origionally going to install a B&M 144 blower on it, but my compression is 9.5 which is to high, turbos are easier to work with in order to make compression work. i know installing a turbo is probably harder, and id prefer the blower, but i havent found a way to make the blower work. any suggestions???

Have you considered a supercharger like the Procharger? I have a Procharger P600b on my iron headed big block running 9.5:1 on pump gas with no problems. I do mix in a little race fuel when going down the track. Since I have such a small supercharger I'm only making about 6 psi of boost but have picked up 1.8 seconds and 20 mph in the 1/4
