I don't know about you, but I didn't realize how dependent I had become with the ole nukem box until I didn't have one anymore. Its been a long time since I made popcorn in a pan the old fashion way and reheating stuff in the oven is no fun. No more instant oatmeal or anything.... I am glad to have one again... Sweet Biscuits....

How about you? How important is that nuker to you?

Most people don't know it, but the older big box type microwaves have "penny" fuses in them.

I've taken at least two apart that were left for dead and put new old-fashioned 15 amp screw-in fuses in them and they worked like a charm!!

My wife got her first new microwave last year for Christmas. The old one (was still working) was one of the first to come out. The guy I worked for at a small auto repair shop had it sitting out under a tree for a couple of years. I hosed and washed it off and out and let it sit in the sun for a couple days. He said it had quit working. Took it to a repair shop and he called me to pick it up before I even got back home . 10 bucks all he had to do was plug a couple wires in that had fell off when the guy that had it was moving! We used it for almost 20 years! It was a Norelco brand and did not have settings for seconds. It had a big dial with marks for quarter minutes and was really slow to heat compared to the new ones.
She destroyed a lot of food the first week she used it!:D

If you use them a lot, you are wasting more money than you are saving. The old microwaves are so inefficient and take so long to heat, and compared with the reletively low prices of basic microwaves these days, you are money ahead to just buy a new one.

You got that right. Every time the wife turned it on it remined me of the old prison movies when they were giving the guy the chair! Half the lights in the house would dim!:D

Only one good way to make popcorn, a whirly popper.

Pop your corn perfectly every time, with as little as a teaspoon of oil. Works like the poppers in the movie theater. This way YOU control how much salt and butter is on it.

I didn't have a microwave.. lost it in my move. Just got one after being without for a few weeks. It isn't an old 200lb model.. it is almost new, maybe a couple years old, real nice.

Measure oil and control salt?... Na... Dump it on till your sweating butter from the pores and the salt is burning your tongue....
