I recently bought a holley 4-DI digital fuel injection kit. I'm in the installation process and am wondering where to mount the pump. Holley says below the bottom of the tank and as close as possible, however they don't specify a manximum distance from the tank. I can't see a real good place any closer that the frame rail around the front lower control arm bushing. I know some of you guys have done tbi conversions etc. Any pics, tip or suggestions would be appreciated.

Electric pumps generally like to push fuel rather than pull it. That is why it's recommended to mount it as close to the tank as possible.

I converted a 69 chevelle to Holley 4DI a couple years ago. I used the stock fuel pickup in the tank, and mounted the fuel pump in front of the tank at the centerline of the fuel tank. I put a bracket between the fuel tank strap bolts on the front end of the tank. and bolted the pump to that bracket, oriented horizontally. The hose connected to the existing hard fuel line with minimum mdification. This setup gave a real short run from the tank to the pump, and the pump was below fuel level as long as the tank was about 1/3 full. The other thing you need is a return, my car already had two fuel lines and a return built into the fuel sender assembly. If you don't have one you can buy one from any of the repro houses, beats trying to cut a hole or weld onto your existing tank. Sorry, no pictures, I sold that car.

Wilbur has the right plan. I just changed my streetrod and made a bracket that mounts the pump next to the tank like he describes. I mounted mine to where its vane is about level with the bottom of the tank. Out of the tank to a cutoff valve to a filter to the pump. Regulator mounts up front. Works great.

I put mine foward of the rear end on the inside of the frame (71 Camaro) with a HP Fuel Filter on the pressure side of the pump. I used 1/2 line from the PU point to the fuel rail. it was a bit away from the PU point, but it was lower than the tank was so ............. I never had any issues with it with all the miles & runs on it.

Just the type of info I was looking for...I hope the 4DI system works well. Looks like alot of fun to play with.. My plan is to use my old feed line for the return and pipe it to the larger vent line that is already on the tank. Hopefully the small vent line and a vented gas cap will work for me I am running 3\8 pushloc woven line for the feed line from the sending unit all the way to the throttle body. Its supposed to be good to 300psi so I think it will be fine at 15psi. Thanks!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Well here (http://home.hot.rr.com/importtech/chevelle/holleyinjection/pump.jpg) is what I came up with...The bracket (http://home.hot.rr.com/importtech/chevelle/holleyinjection/pumpbracket1.jpg) is kinda crude, I don't have much imagination beyond women ;) I't hangs a little lower than I planned but I think it will work at least for now. Nobody spends much time under my car anyway. graemlins/sad.gif At least its close and below the tank bottom. Any reason I can't use the the larger vent line (http://home.hot.rr.com/importtech/chevelle/holleyinjection/ventlines.jpg) for a return?
