I have a 3100lbs pontiac Lemans 72
It has a stock TH400 with shiftkit and a 3500 Stall A1 10", 12 bolt rear with 4.56 gears and 17x33" ET Drags.

Its a 468 Cui bigblock

The engine has low domes, 10,7 Cr, Canfield 119cc 310cc heads with 2.25/1.88 valves.

Now i use a comp cams streetroller (SR292R) 252/260@050 660/666 lift or something like that.

Running high 9.es without spray and hit a 9.41 on 100 shot.

On dyno i made 671hp@5900rpm. to low for me i guess.

I have 270@seat and 600@open spring pressures.

Cam should work good on street (not failure, idle is not important)

Cam should work with 300 shot nitrous.

I woulnt rev over 7600rpm.

Max 3500 stall without nitrous and 4500 with.

I have multipoint EFI good for about 1000hp. (inj/pump)

It must be runned with pump gas!

Any recomends?

Thanks in advance

You have a Pontiac now??? You find more cars over in Sweden than I do here!

Maybe someone who knows will answer. Those cams are a lot bigger than anything I have run.

Lift after half a year.

Can i use a bigger cam with my low compression engine?

Went 8.88/240 with a 1.30 sixtie and 5.64/199km/h for some weeks ago.

So i need mid to low eights now ;)

tjena godsend.why on earth do you have so stiff valvesprings.i read"270 lbs".with your cam and rpm range you don`t need so stiff springs.unless there`s something i don`t know about, you`re giving away lot`s of free horsepower.i recommend lunati roller p/n 50214 "excellent cam in 454 race car with decent compression.works with n2o.rpm range 4000-7800.lift intake 0.744.exhaust0.704.duration @0.050,274 int,283 exh.lunati cams have worked for me even though i haven`t run that fast.what have you done to your car as it`s so light??my chevelle weighs at 3500 lbs with driver and it`s supposed to be lightened!!

I bought a set of Canfields. I was recomended them then. Used 150/370 springs before with no problems.

But i have stronger springs for my blower setup that i have to wait another year with.

My car has no Interior, plastic hood, bumpers, windows (except front) Alu floor. It weights too much ;)

Stall will be no problems. Just spray it ;) Will it fit with such a low compression engine?

Harold, any other suggestions?

Godsend, I don't think there is much left. A 468 isn't a very big engine anymore. Other than lightening the tempest up some more. Don't go to a lower pressure valvespring as this is a sure way to drop a valve and destroy that very fast 468 you have. Also 7600 RPM is awfully tight for a 4" crank.

That -8 austempered iron Comp Cams wont last too long with those spring pressures. Make sure you get a steel billet core the next time. Comp cams use a "-9" to identify those cores.

So a profile grind on a billet core with my old specs or something like Pauli Specced?

Yes. I've had the good fortune of being informed from people on this and other boards about the -8 cam failures , many due to high spring pressures. I've also talked to a couple of CompCams techs, the -8 austempered cams were never intended for such high spring pressures.

I exchanged my -8 for a custom steel billet -9 when I found out about the incompatibility. Comp had no problem with the switch.

Advance or retard it. Using a Jesel Belt drive i can easy do this. But i have only 3 runs left this year.

I have it straight up right now.

And another jesel question. How much torq should i use on the advance/retard bolts?

Godsend,

Try making a post on the www.nsca-racing.com (http://www.nsca-racing.com) web board. People like Leo Barnaby, Monty Mihko, Mike Canter, and a few others post on that board.
