Sorry for the non-chevelle question. My sisters sunfire won't start. I scanned it for DTC's and it came up with "P1621 PCM memory Perf" and "P0440 Evap Emission Ctrl Sys Error" Anyone know what that means?

The p1621 means to replace the pcm.

Thanks for the response. :beers: That's kinda what I figured. Hopefully a new PCM isn't worth more than the car:(

the p0440 will most likely return after the pcm swap.Assuming the gas cap is tightened down..the evap vent valve jumper harness is a common fail in the J car.Located in the rear at the thru floor bulkhead, beside your tank harness and rear abs if equipped.Check that pink wire for a break as it enters the connector, body side.

Chris..I see you up in beautiful Canada. Here in the States..a pcm would be warranted for 8 years/80,000 miles.I am guessing 8 yrs/140,000 kilometers?Contact your Pontiac dealer and give them your VIN.The failed pcm may fall under federal emissions, like cat converters.

pcm may need to be programed to the car to make it run depending on year of sunfire

I'll have to check into that. The car is an '01. I think it has around 150,000K on it. My sister had it towed to the dealer, I'll call and ask about the PCM warranty thing. Thanks again for all the responses.:beers:
