In my humble opinion, I dont like the big wheel, rubberband tire look, old cars need FAT tires ;) But if you wanna make your car look like an import, thats okay too :D

I'm not a big fan of what Bob so nicely described, but if you're gonna do it, those look like very nice wheels to go with.

VERY cool wheels. :)

I dont like the big wheel, rubberband tire look, old cars need FAT tires ;)Those balloon tires don't corner worth a damn though. :noway:

On a car with extensive suspension mods such as Rantheman's, it would be foolish to throw away all that money spent by not optimizing the most critical part of the handling combo.

You mean my 31x 18.5 x 18's aren't FAT???? ;)

Rathman, you can get a lot of rubber around those rims for the right look.

i personally would'nt put anything bigger than 15 inch rims on any muscle car.i think they were made to go fast in a straight line thats why i got nice fat balloons on my 67

i think they were made to go fast in a straight lineThey didn't even do that very well without modifying the whole car anyway, so what's wrong with modifying for handling purposes instead? If I followed your logic, I'd be stuck driving mine only for daily commuting rather than fun, because that is in-fact what it was built for... :clonk:

Chevelles are a perfect platform to build a car that can blow away new BMWs with ease... it just takes the right combination of parts, which includes some good sticky rubber with stiff sidewalls.

Rantheman,

Those are wide rims for a 65. Sure they will fit ? You must be modifying the body/frame yes ?

Oh yeah, those performance tires are a big improvement over the fatty 15's I use to run. To each his own.

yes the frame has been modified and the body to 2" mini tub so I have 14 inches in the wheel wells so I am running a 12.6 wide tire in the rear

I agree with the others especially on a 65. You need to add a tire with some sidewall or it won't look right. Probably something between 45~55 sidewall percentage.
