Ok ok rect ports.

Fellas, FWIW, is my "Infamous" bud 509Camaro.

Hey 509, I think you should take the L88 back and let me run the 509 in that old Chevelle!

Currently runs smallest Crane solid roller (238/248 on 112LSA ) in 509.

Kidding, ok now lets get serious.....Racer1320, Doug G., Aug, lets give this guy a cam recommendation!(Solid only)

Aug98, 509 figured it'd cost him about $2200 for slugs and crank (+rebalance), I think he'd only go solid roller.

Two more question's. How much does the car weigh? How much are you willing to spend? A nice calm street roller would be sweet but a little costly. Some may say it's over kill.

Try this, picked out by racer1320 for my 496, this is a street solid roller. Dyno 2000 shows this cam with MAX HP @6000 and MAX TRQ @4500. http://www.compcams.com/speccard/11-772-8.txt

Interestingly enough, I saw an ad for the Ford race crate motor, 514ci and they used a solid roller in a 514, 250-ish int./260-ish ex. and made their peak HP at 6300, peak torque at 5850 rpm.

Dammit Gene, what are you doing looking at the Ford ads for?! You thinking of switching teams?! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/tongue.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Heck no. Point being they run lots of duration in big motors. I checked the ad on the can this am again, it s more like 252/258 @0.050.

To give u guys some more info, 509Camaro has a 68 Camaro. Full cage, weight about 3000 lbs unless he gives my fat arse a ride, he gave the driveline specs/ T400/25-2600 stall 3.73.

He's wondering whether he can get 700 HP out of a 540 with the tripower intake on it. The tripower is professionally done, running 3 annular Holley 80211's in a mechanical/progressive setup. Pertronix ignition with hot coil. The Dart Pro 1's are rect port with 315cc intake runners, 2.125" SuperComps with 3.5" collectors.

As much as I like the Tri-power setup, in all out performance and drag race type applications, there is nothing better than the right single.

If it were me, a big fat Holley Dominator set up right on a nice manifold. Not only will it be faster, it will bust harder, 60 ft. better. More is not always better.

The right manifold is just as important as the right heads and carb.

The goal of 700 should not be a problem.

Mercury put these motors in boats, made 575 hp with BS cam and 9.1 compression!!!!!!
