Will a 427 tall deck fit in a 1972 chevelle or will there need to be some changes made? If so what all will have to be done? TIA

For the average car, its not worth the trouble. The Tall deck engines are about an inch taller at the head mounting surface. This requires intake manifold spacers unless you are going to use the truck intake. Different headers, brackets etc etc. Probably will have hood clearance problems as well. Unless you are buildinig a big cubic inch stroker, its not worth the touble.
Just my opinion,

I know those old big truck tall decks can seem enticing because of the magical "427" displacement, but you would be so much better off with a regular 454. Bill covered the basic fittment issues, I'll go one step further: the *cheap* buy in of an old truck tall deck 427 will soon be lost in all that will be needed to properly complete the job. Won't perform better than a similar 454 either.
