I need advice / help I just got done routing a #10 and #8 braided fuel line from the the tank along the right rail in the stock location all the way through the front crossmember stock location, ( what a pain in the A...) any thoughts on the best location for the fuel regulator? its a aeromotive,
10 in, 8 return and two #6 to the carb
i know i can mount it on the fender well, but can i mount it on the engine or will there be too much vibration? I have my Alt on the drivers side so i was thinking of mounting it on the front of the pass head side, i am looking for looks and functional aspects..

If your planning on running a bypass style regulator, Ideally you want the regulator as close to the carb as possible. This way it will respond much quicker since it will sense demand sooner. The shorter the colum of fuel between the needle valves and the fuel psi regulator the quicker it can respond. I mounted my bypass regulator right on the end of my carb fuel line inlet with a -8 union. Hope this helps.

I made a bracket that mount to the carburetor, you must have something to isolate it from engine vibration, we have rubber gromments kind of like the MSD mounting pads for 6AL's etc

I always mount mine on the frame, below battery in that little spot, where some cool air makes it past the radiator... I always make sure mine is in front of the carb and goes directly to carb so that on a launch... the regulator doesn't get a false reading and cut my fuel flow.... thats just the way I do it... if your driving it on the street... put is anywhere you like... just not the motor... there is too much heat and too much vibration...the combination of which will give you tons of problems.

I have seen a setup where I guy put in on his firewall above and behind dizzy...

I have seen on fenderwell... looks kinda odd to me just sitting there...

good luck making your decision... drill holes in ... inconspicous places and you can always move it if you don't like it... just my opinion

I'm using a 5-port Aeromotive return regulator. 1/2" inlet, NOS solenoid, (2) 6AN to carb, 1/2" return out the bottom.

I mounted mine to the carb using an aluminum short radius 90. The steel line for NOS plate is also supporting it. It doesn't vibrate any more than anything else in/on the car. It's steady. Before the NOS, I had a mount that I fabbed that went to the water neck bolt.

I've had Reg. mounted to the passenger side head for about 9 years now ..... never a problem with it there ..I fabbed a bracket that did keep it a few inches away from being directly bolted to the head but it was still solidly mounted and vibration has never been an issue ....It a Competition Products 4 port Reg ( same as BG just cheaper price and they sell a rebuild kit for it for about $18 .and it fits the BG 4 port Reg ,so if you you have a BG Reg and it craps out you don't have to ship it back and pay $75 to have it rebuilt .... But Shhhhhhhh..... Bg doesn't want you to know that  LOL ) Anyway now i have a motor plate and the Reg is mounted to that but its in the same location right in front of the passenger side head ...... let see if i have any pics of it ..http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r287/killer_bowtie/newpaintengine.jpg

Thanks for the suggestions, The regulator i am useing is the aeromotive A1000, the car will be a street strip car maybe seeing a 1000 miles a year on the street, right now i think i will make a bracket to mount to the head area as the fuel lines seem to have a centeral location point and they are steel braided with teflon lineing so i dont want to kink them and its not to far from the carb plus add some vibration gromments,
second choice will be on the frame as suggested
I am going to have to learn how to post pictures!
Killer Bowtie, in your picture on top of your carb is that your air cleaner setup?

Its a cap to cover the carb inlet when not in use. Keeps junk out of the engine that can do serious damage. I run a K&N air cleaner unit on top on my Holley 8082 dominator carb.
