I see others have had Voodoo 262 cams that were noisy and fixed it by changing out there roller rockers for stamped steel ones. Question is can I use a set of stock rockers or do I need a set of long slot with this voodoo 262 with vortec heads?

The 400 in my wagon has stock vortec rockers and a voodoo 262. No problems here.

Is your valve train quiet?

Yeah, no tappet noise to speak of. Running LT4 springs & cap kit http://www.sdparts.com/product/12495494/LT4SBChevroletValveSpringKit.aspx

Stock vortec heads with guides turned down, stock push in studs with stock self aligning rockers.

Car has a fairly mild/ stock idle.

How did you adjust the valves? Engine cold not running 1/2 turn from zero lash or warmed up and running 1/4 turn after quiet?

Set them cold while assembling the engine.... planned to re adjust, but haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for your replies. I am going to readjust the valves cold now that the engine has been run and the lifters are pumped up. If the valve train is still noisy I'll replace the comp roller tip rocker arms with a set of stock rockers I already have and see how it works out. Again Thanks, Steve

If you're running Vortec heads, you either have to use guide plates OR self aligning rockers.
Stock rockers will work just fine with the Voodoo 262.

I assumed, but like Bill said, U have either self aligning roller rockers OR heads with screw in studs & guide plates, right?

This is a new build. I did the cam break in according to the instructions that came with the cam kit. Theres only about 4 or 5 miles on it and since the radiator developed a leak when it was in storage I haven't been able to drive it. The new rad will be here on Thurs, then I put some miles on it.

The roller tips are the self align type and yes the stock rockers are self aligning also. Hey, it never hurts to make sure.
