The heads are Chinese knockoffs of the Australian Pro Toplines. Cheap junk, IMHO.

Plenty of info on these heads here, do a few searches...Some guys have re-worked them and had great results, However it takes alot of time and money....If you have your own machine shop...or can get work done for free...might be worth it...otherwise.....maybe not. ;)

What Kurt454 said.
Poor knock-offs at that.
You're better off (and maybe even less expensive) starting with a REAL head to begin with.

If you want to cheap out, the Patriot heads are real nice for the money. CHP did a very nice article on them.

don't know much about either ,so probally both. as far as budget i hoped to keep it around 5K. i already had some parts laying around .( 4 bolt block, blower and pro comp heads) i have some doubts about the heads since they were so cheap.i'd hate to destroy a good engine because of junk heads. my goals are for 1. be reliable 2.be quicker than say newer mustangs, vettes, imports ect. don't want to get embarrassed in one of chevy's finest muscle cars(69 ss chevelle). all advice will help:beers:

Ebay the Pro Comp's and get set of AFR or BMF heads. Much higher quality.

Below is a link to a thread from Speedtalk.com where Curtis Boggs of Race Flow Development discusses the quality of Pro Comp heads.

The Patriot heads were $1400 as sent to CHP. It is in the January issue of a 505 build up.

I would personally, and have done so, save up more money and purchase a set of AFR's from Wolfplace here. You really don't want to skimp on your heads, and bottom end.

I think if you have to hurt your wallet buying alum heads, hurt it the right way and get a set of good heads.

That said, I did purchase a new set of GMPP/Eddy heads for 1300.00. If I were to go new again, Brodix RR's or AFR's w/o question.

there good heads, I took mine over to Randy and they flowed over 350 cfm out the box. castings were good, he said with some bowl work and gasket match ad a good 30* back cut they may go to 370

they are not RHS or pro top line copies, randy was a pro top line dealer and said they looked smaller than a 320cc runner, Im bringing them back over there for a valve job and to have him put them together. These heads are begin pushed all over the place under different names, nobody liked professional products before and now there accepted and marketed in popular magazines

just because the were made in someplace else besides the red white and blue doesn't mean they are garbage.

Ive spoken to several engine builders and all said for the money there not bad and perform well. None of them said get rid of them.

they also make a set for BBF and were told they are trick flow copies ad are very good for the money and perform very well

Pro Comp, patriot, and alot of other names they are being marketed as they are made over seas, they are good heads for the blue collar budget guys like myself who cant afford $2500 heads, would our politicians allow a company import these and sell them to thousands of people if they were pure junk?
they are the pro comp brand, from what i hear he imported these and sold them off to other companies who could call them whatever they choose they were showing up on ebay alot.

These things again,,
Doug,
First,
You bet "our government" will let junk in,, have you been to the store lately??
That is just an insane argument
Let's start with dog food
Then on to some of the clothes sold out there
Then lets go on to the toys of late,,,
Need I go on :(

Anyway,
I don't know what engine builders you are talking to that defend these heads unless they are selling them but they have had some major quality control issues from what I & others haves seen.
And I have had some experience with Pro Comp, their leader,,, & their "hi quality" stuff

While these heads can probably be made into a decent piece for a milder build albeit somewhat fragile, some of my biggest concerns are the shallow seats, the quality of the machine work, how good is the press fit of those shallow seats..
And the fact the casting is a good 15lbs lighter than most other decent heads.

Here is an older post done a while back regarding the merits of Pro Comp
