Hi all,
I'm converting my 65 Chevelle to standard and I bought the bracket to attach the clutch return spring but there were no instructions on where to mount it. It looks like I need to weld it but I'm not sure where to put it. Does anyone have any pics or measurements on where to put it or how much tension should be on the spring? This is the last step that I need to have everything mounted up. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Are you an ACES member? If yes there's an article on doing the swap in the last issue
If not I can scan it in for you.

I'm not a member so if you could scan it for me, I'd owe you big time. Thanks a ton.

If you still need the exact measurment from pivot to return spring clip let me know. I'll get it to you later. Just a side note: In my '65 the clutch return spring broke and it still shifts fine. ;)

Thanks to all for the replies. I mounted it about 5 inches down from where the firewall starts to bend. Hooked up the spring but the pedal doesn't sit all the way up to the top inside. It sits just a little below the brake pedal. Is this normal for it? I don't have the car running so I can't say anything about clutch adjustment yet. Thanks.

Actually, the clutch pedal is supposed to sit a little higher than the brake pedal. There is also a return spring which attaches to the pedal itself. Do you have that installed?

Be that as it may, with a broken clutch return spring you aren't doing your throwout bearing any favors.

Anybody know if the 66 is mounted in the same place???
I'm in the process of preparing my 66 Elky to a MT.
I have everything, now just gotta call the portable welder guy.
I can't see the pics--('lil red Xs)

I did install all the springs. It almost feels like it's hanging up on something. I'm gonna try lubing up the rod where it goes thru the firewall. Maybe that will help.

On my 65, the firewall pushrod was binding on the boot. I had to enlarge the hole a little.
