: Patriot aluminum heads ?
Copshop68 Dec 22nd, 07, 3:19 PM I wondered if anyone knew anything of these heads ? I've been looking into a set of inexpensive aluminum heads since I just found out my stock 333882 350 heads are going to need about 500.00 to get them in shape again, then still be iron and have no porting or increased flow/performace.

Dr J's Performance Dec 22nd, 07, 3:46 PM they are a good low cost Aluminum Head. I've used them a 2 motors so far and they seam to work Fine. The flow numbers on the ebay website are wrong. The heads I've Flow tested match the flow numbers on the patriot web site. They don't have the geometry problems of some of the other Chinese heads.
Copshop68 Dec 22nd, 07, 4:11 PM Thanks for the input.
Can I ask what the motor was you put them on ? 350 or 383 or ?
Also, did you dyno it or anything ?
I'm just asking to try and figure out how much of a gain they might be over stock heads.
Thanks again.
Jim

The other Chinese heads? From what I've read the Patriot factory is a small independent one right here in the US. For some good info read the article in the Jan. 2008 copy of CHP.

A good rule of thumb, is most Alum.heads,"if properly matched to your engine", will pick you up 30 to 50 Hp.over "OLD " fact. cast heads. You would probably not see any over Vortec Heads.Has something to do with 40 year old technology verses new.:hurray:They also weigh quite a bit less.

Yes but there heads are cast offshore
novaderrik Dec 23rd, 07, 1:00 PM i thought they were cast in Australia?
or was that some other head?
these days, i just assume that any product with the word "Patriot" or anything like that is made offshore, and the name is just a way to make you think they are made in the USA.

I used them on a 383. I have not run them in Stock form.
I purchase the heads bare and do my own anti-reversion valve job because the Patriot one is really bad!!! Ported they preform very well on the dyno. I'm building another 383 hyd roller right now that will have a set of ported 190 patriots on it. The last one made 538 hp at 6100 rpm and 529 ft of tq at 4900 rpm. All this on 89 octane. And with a cam that is 242 @.050. The cool part is the it made 12 inches of manifold vac at 900 rpm. The cam is a custom comp HYD roller. I use there XFI lobe # 3018 242 @.050 and .584 with a 1.6 rocker. I run a 1.7 crower on the intake and a 1.6 on the exh.
The cam is on a 106 lobe center with 4 degrees of advance.
The engine is 11.75 to 1 and I thermo coat the valves, pistons, and Intake to make it work on pump gas. The cylinder cranking pressure is 228 psi.
Keep in mind that the engine makes the power because of the total package. Ported heads & intake, custom anti-reversion valve Job, .030 piston to head clearance, thermo coatings, 850 annular booster carb. etc, etc. Every part of the engine is made to work with alloted air flow to make the most power possible and still be streetable.
So for the cost they are a good Head

They wouldn't even reply to my e-mail asking where their stuff was made.
Seems safe to assume that if they're that ashamed of their product...it's Communist crap with a name that makes it sound better than it really is.

Hello...You said Anti-reversion. I was wondering if they still make Anti-reversion headers? Not that I need a set. Just wondering...
Dr J's Performance Dec 23rd, 07, 7:17 PM I don know of a company that make A-R headers. The guy who still holds the original patient sent my friend a Cece and desist order a few years ago. But he does not sell headers. go figure
ScooterG Dec 23rd, 07, 7:19 PM November '07 CHP article on page 42 has some info on Patriot heads.
dirtrocker Dec 23rd, 07, 10:58 PM Here's a pretty good deal on AFR heads http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgr8deals01
BowtieAaron Dec 24th, 07, 12:30 AM i was really looking into these heads hard.
until i relised the best deal is the AFR elim heads.
these heads are cast offshore. i read apost on a mustang forum about them, and the guy for patriot beat around the bush about saying where they were casted at.
