Found a motor on Ebay and the guy is like 15 miles from my house. Auction ends in 4 hours. I'm wondering what a "good deal" on this motor would be?

He told me it is a 1972 (402) block with around 350HP. It has oval port closed chamber heads on it with 112 cc. He told me a guy by the name of Strunk did the head work and that it is the same guy that did work for Joe Amato? Says he paid $1100 for head work alone. Valve job at 2.19 & 1.88. Valve covers and Edelbrock dual plane intake(200 miles) go with it.

He states it was in a 66 SS Impala convertible and he just wasnts a smaller engine because they drive the car quite a bit. Says he would change the cam(290 duration) because it loads up in town and he states he'd throw in a few cams he has laying around in the deal. 4000 miles since rebuild with new rings and bearings. States I could have heard it run but now out of the car.

Hey Chris!

Yes, that's what I was thinking. You know my situation and I was just thinking about throwing that #'s matching block in the barn and running something else in the car. Just not up on current prices of these motors and needed some direction. What's the average price for a motor like this?

For sure. Opening up those old closed chambers is "pro" territory, so hope the guy he says did the work, did it, and did it right. Easy to find the water jacket on that exhaust valve I hear!

Might be worth taking it conditional on a dry compression test.Maybe I'm being paranoid.
