: How's this for a deal!
Skeeveman Dec 21st, 07, 10:33 PM Buddy of mine that works at Lowes always tells me when they have super deals on stuff that they are wanting to liquidate on... and I picked up this beauty for 100 bucks!
220v
Cast iron pump
13.3 scfm @ 90psi
60 gallon tank

brans72 Dec 21st, 07, 10:53 PM lucky dog you!!!!! i need a connection like that!
Chevelle505cid Dec 21st, 07, 10:55 PM 100 bucks? for that? How will you sleep at night? The shame! I need new friends. lol
Skeeveman Dec 21st, 07, 11:07 PM Yep, lol, full 3 year warranty and all! The only thing it didn't come with is the instruction manual, other then that, it's just a discontinued model that is a few years old. I'm trying to find it on the net for the break in procedure. I found some info that says run it for 30 minutes , with the tank wide open. Anybody do this on their compressors?
I need to make up my mind where I'm going to put it in the shop... the choices are endless since the shop still has to be wired up.
cobaltchev67 Dec 22nd, 07, 12:34 AM I'd say put it near the electrical panel, since you can always run more pipe, and wire is more expensive....or put it outside and pipe it to the inside for noise abatement.
Chevelle505cid Dec 22nd, 07, 1:19 AM My Craftsman 5.5 hp 33 gallon breakin said to run it with drain wide open for 20-30 minutes. I shut it off after 15 mintues let it cool over night and ran it another 15 minutes with drain open. That was 9 years ago. Has worked flawlessly. Reason why I stopped it early on the break in. The cylinder was hot as heck! Could not believe how the cylinder was getting. Did'nt care for that at all. Figured a couple heat cycles is better anyways. Second cycle cylinder did not get as hot. This is a oil free compressor also.
Sid Coleman Dec 22nd, 07, 2:24 AM Think they may have any more??? :D
Ricks70ss Dec 22nd, 07, 4:04 AM Jake: Nice Bike. What I can see of it. Send more pic's of it. Rick . oh yeah nice killer deal on the compressor
Junkyard Dawg Dec 22nd, 07, 7:32 AM Must be nice. I'd love to find myself an air compressor for that low amount.
driver Dec 22nd, 07, 8:02 AM LUCKY DOG IS RIGHT:D I'm in need of one of those myself...Going to look at a few today.
I got an upright like that in my shop. I have had it 5-6 years and never used it. :clonk: The old Sears horizontal tank type that was picked up at a garage sale for $10 has been running like a champ once my dad figured out that the motor was 220 and some one had put a 110 plug on it :D. Runs all the power tools fine. I expected the old sears thing to die sooner or later and it keeps on chuggin' (been at least 11 years).
6704gto Dec 22nd, 07, 9:27 AM some people just have some good luck
Skeeveman Dec 22nd, 07, 9:44 AM The Lowes stock number on it is 134819, and the description is a Kobalt 7hp Hi Flow compressor. It is no longer on their web page, since it's a discontinued/non stocked item. My buddy that works there told me this is the drill, since the store he works at is like the ATL areas head Lowes or whatever, stuff gets sent there when it has been replaced with new stuff and can't be sold, they mark them with super deals, but don't spend the time/money to advertise them... so it's more or less a word of mouth deal. If nobody buys the stuff, they literally have a crusher out back that they throw the stuff in. How cruel, right?
So, go to your local lowes, have them punch the number in their computer, and see if they got it. Heck, even when we got mine, the guy at the counter had no idea what we were talking about, and said they didn't have any compressors like that for 99 bucks. But, sure enough, after he looked up the part number, it showed up as 1 in stock @ $99.80. He went back there thinking it was going to be gone, but came back dragging it behind him on a pallet jack. :D
Oh, and for you Atlanta guys, the store I'm talking about is the Riverdale store on 85. From what my source told me, there may be one more left, but there are a bunch of 45 gallon versions for 79 bucks left as well.
And as for the bike, that's the old mans, it's an APC job, I'll throw some pics up later. The compressor is in the attached garage blocking in his mustang and bikes, so I need to get the shop rearranged a bit so I can move it out there, haha.
mndmax Dec 22nd, 07, 11:42 PM It's a GREAT deal.
Thanks for the heads up. I just bought the last one in MN at that price.:hurray:
There is one left, but that Lowes(Owatonna) said it is still priced at $499.
pdq67 Dec 23rd, 07, 10:50 AM Fwiw, my Nephew hung his from the ceiling in a corner to get it up out of the way.
He just wired the switch and piping for the air filter/water separator/hose down low on the wall by it.

Jeff74 Dec 23rd, 07, 12:40 PM I have mine in the basement you can hear it in the house more than the garage ;)

Sweet, so you were able find the same deal as well. Glad to help out!
Fwiw, my Nephew hung his from the ceiling in a corner to get it up out of the way.
I am thinking about doing the same exact thing. Free's up some space and gets it out of the way. I also like the idea of making it an attached shed for it to sit in so it's out of sight and almost silent.
I have mine in the basement you can hear it in the house more than the garage ;) How does the other half like that scenario? lol
69ssmike Dec 23rd, 07, 3:38 PM I tried to find that deal, but no dice around here, found a couple out of state but the price was $249. Thanks for the heads up though:thumbsup:
david_396 Dec 23rd, 07, 4:07 PM called my lowes, $429.00 :( 2 in stock.
69ssmike Dec 23rd, 07, 5:31 PM Guy my wife spoke to said it is up to the manager about price on discontinued items and how bad they need the room.
david_396 Dec 26th, 07, 7:27 PM Called three other stores. still $400 plus
webfoot Dec 26th, 07, 7:31 PM That really chaps my hide, cuz I just paid $600 for the exact same thing, probably less than 1 month ago!!
OrrieG Dec 27th, 07, 12:04 AM I bought the same one this summer for more than $100 (maybe like $399, I don't have the receipts handy, I know it was about $125 off regular price). Mine came with a bum shut off switch that was upgraded by the certified repair person so he wouldn't need to keep coming back. Runs like a champ when I get to use it.
Mstehle Dec 27th, 07, 10:20 AM I checked my local Lowes today. No luck but there are two about 60 miles away. The local store called them and they said the price is $429 which is only 10% off. I need to go out that way anyway so I may stop in a see if I can talk to the manager to get a better price.
Mstehle Dec 27th, 07, 9:17 PM Jake:
You are THE MAN!! I scored a compressor in Utica, NY today for $99.00. Thanks so much for turning us on to this. You are another fine example of why this site ROCKS! :hurray:
I was able to talk to the manager and he checked to verify that it is a "non stock" item. Once he verified that he was more than willing to do it for $99.00. I even got a $10.00 coupon for my next purchase which turned out to be a tie down to get it home in the back of the truck.
Thanks so much.
Mark
Skeeveman Dec 27th, 07, 10:52 PM Hell yeah! Glad to see more of you guys are able to find this same deal! I'll make sure to let you guys know of any deals like this I hear of in the future.

Mark what was the price before you talk to the manager. I may have to go in instead of calling on the phone. thanxs db
Mstehle Dec 28th, 07, 9:21 PM Price was $424.99 when I got to the store. Just as Jake originally said and I said in my post you have to talk to the manager. If you can get him to verify it is a non-stock item he should be willing to let it go.
Good luck.

Mstehle Dec 29th, 07, 9:51 AM Are these compressors single stage? (90 psi max)
7 HP 60 gallon 135 max PSI 13.5 CFM @ 90 PSI. This unit will do all I will ever need and then some. My buddy even has a couple of extra dryers and he will give me one. This deal is getting better and better as we go along.
Chris R Jan 6th, 08, 12:46 AM I stopped at a local Lowes today and now im confused. First of all, they did have a compressor on display that actually did have the 134819 number printed on the sticker. However, this was a number in () just behind the description of the unit.
In the fine print of the unit it actually did have a model number and an item number.
This was item number 137603.
Model number KLA4508065.
Price was 599. No thanks.
Employee nearby said the 134819 number was just a coincidence. I had them look it up on the computer and they certianly did show it as out of stock and a no longer carried item.
Is the 134819 you found the actual model or item number? I didnt see any stock number outside of what was printed.
