Have brought my latest project home and finally sorted thru all the parts and the parts car. I thought I would share it with you so you can analyze, criticize, and guage how I did. It might help some on what to expect. Here it is:

1969 SS L coded Kansas car with original M-21 and 3:55 posi, 12 bolt
w AC ,Tach/Guages

Body Car completely disassembled, media blasted, primered with new full floor pans and trunk. Done well. Work began to smooth hood, trunk lid,RH fender and header panel. LH fender NOS and doors are nice. Firewall worked and painted. Shell just needs wiped to straighten. Dash painted with wiring done and heater and A/C boxes installed. Will replace original bezel.

Frame Stripped, blasted and powder coated. A/Arms, rear control arms, cross member, inner fenders, core support&brackets, and upper radiator support powder coated. New springs, all suspension parts, calipers, rotors,ss fuel and brake lines, and lower distribution block. Original booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve rebuilt and correctly plated. Power steering box rebuilt and restored.

4 Speed and rear end rebuilt.
5 matching YA wheels
Steering column rebuilt and painted
Speedo and Tach/Guages Restored and recalibrated. New Clock
Original tinted glass that is nice enough to use.
Came with virtually every original part, 83 454 complete Rebuilder, and a 69 4 door parts car with complete 307,PG,10 bolt drivetrain. Not running.

$8250 160 miles from home.

Have bought 69 3965440 JC motor with 3931063 Heads and 3931067 intake. Came with correct flywheel and everything dated within (back of) 90 days of car build date.

A lot of work has been done and a lot of money spent. It is at the perfect place to build it for me. I originally wanted a Red/Red car but the work on the dash in black is so well done and the original black dash pad is so good I decided to leave it black, until I saw the Red/White car that hit the classifieds that would allow me to keep the dash black and use the nice complete black seat belts. That decision is well down the road.

Thanx to John and Brad who kept me focused to get it done and everyone else for info submitted and to come. Whether I paid too much or too little I am awfully excited about what it can be. Oh yeah, for those wondering about project costs with all that is done I figure I am $22-25K from finishing. Will sell 454 and parts car.

White interiors look good to me, but I don't think I could own one. Congrats on the acquisition and good luck :)

Well Jeff you are probably right. Discussing it with my wife I get this lukewarm reaction on the white and a "You know I would like to see this car Red/Black with a black stripe." Not hard to figure where we are heading now.

"The man who proclaims he is not hen pecked generally ain't got no hen."

John,

That sounds exactly like my project. '69 Kansas "L" coded car. M-21, 3:55 posi, 396/350 A/C with tach and gauges.

Here's my question: I recently had someone suggest that an L34 4 speed with A/C may be somewhat rare. What do you think?

Most of the factory SS A/C cars built were automatics. It is the reason I am going to take the pains and expense to make mine correct and functional. No way to know how many were built but using the production %'s probably around 10%. Survival of these is very low. Very few things you can do to one of these cars for $1000 that will give you the degree of seperation from the others than a 4 speed and correct factory A/C. There are a lot of nice cars out there and many others being built.

I'd stick with the plan of Red on Red.

Chambered Exhaust, Redlines, 4 Speed, Air Car....... Tasty.

Find me another one.

Can you see it with a much brighter re-sale Red Paint and interior?
