I installed a new rear glass and all my clips looked good, when I put the trim back on a couple of them got bent out of shape. Needless to say I now need to replace a couple of the clips. The ones on mine appear to be on studs, no rust issues. Can I remove and install these without removing the rear window? I can access all of them since I don't have caulk smeared over them. The ones I am seeing aftermarket are with screws. Is there a way to take these off the studs and reinstall them without alot of problems? I just need to replace 2 of them. I thought they were installed with rivets but after reading some posts I am assuming they are a stud, do they pull off and then pop back on? Please give me some kindergarten advice! thanks!

If you look at then very closely you will see a small tab that needs to be pried out just a little so the clip will release from the stud. It's dangerous work because you are prying near the edge of the window. Any slipping a gouging into the edge of your window can crack it. Pry the tab back and pull up on your clip or lever it up with another screw driver. Once removed you should be able to bend your original clip back and install it again. Any scraping of paint in the window track needs to be touched up before reinstalling the clips and trim.

so the stud does not have any type of mushroomed out head or anything? So use a very small screwdriver and pry it out and is should pop off the stud? When I go to install the new one or if I reuse my old one will I just get it over the stud and then sorta use a flat head screwdriver and pry it a little and it should pop back on? My main concern because its so small and hard to see is that the stud is just a stud without a head and that I can get my clip back on.

One other thing is the clips that show are correct for my car have one round hole in the center, they dont have the oblong notch to put it in the stud and then slide it over the stud. Thats where I am confused, with the one round hole will it fit over the stud and be held by the force of the way the clip is bent? Thanks in advance.

The new clips will jusb "pop" on no need for a screw driver or anything else. They should go on with your hands maybe a set of needle nose pliers.

Your stud looks just like a tack or small nail. You will need to pry a tang out on the clip that will release it from the nail head. Study your replacement clip and imagine it slipped over a small nail head and you will see the tang that holds it in place.
