Well, thanks all in the previous thread regarding your insight on the car I wanted to purchase in Modesto. My buddy and I drove all the way up from San Diego, checked it out and I bought it. We then drove all the way back home. 12 hours of driving!!!!! Car turned out killer!! It has been in the family since new. Original 65 SS in Corcus Yellow. Numbers matching 283 with power steering and power brakes. Dealer add AC. He upgraded to power windows, tilt column and discs in the front. Black plate car. Guess what else. HE HAD THE PROTECT-O-PLATE in the owner protection plan manual, the original owner's manual and the sale brochure. He also gave me the original column, drum brakes and a few other pieces. I am really excited. No patch panels, super straight car. Restore about 7 years ago. I need some help decoding the engine. One the protect o plate the engine code is F0306DE. It has that number stamped on the "Cross member" section of the manual. I think that is the engine code. F being a Flint motor. However, I can't find anything reference to the suffix DE. They all come up earlier or later 283's?

I'm a chevelle owner again! Car is being shipped this week.
