How to do interior work in a 70 chevelle?

I'd like to do some work on the interior of my car and need a manual that shows how things go together.

Any good books out there?

I'd like to be able to replace the lights in instrument panel, replace the clock, speedometer, etc., take off door panels, replace the hard plastic shell on the back of a bucket seat, fix the turn signal stopper (my left turn signal in almost always on :(), and so on.

Everything that you asked for in your thread can be found right here by doing a search on the specific subject. Think of Team Chevelle as an electronic version of that book that you are looking for.

Randy, Without knowing if you have an SS or not. A good Christmas present may be:
Chevelle SS Restoration Guide by Paul A. Herd

I see that book for sale at Ground Up. I'll pick it up.

My Chevelle is a non-documented SS. It could be a clone, but if it is it's a pretty good clone.

that's true, but sometimes it's easier to look in a book.

Randy,
I thought of another one worth getting. Motors Auto Repair Manual 1970.
I checked ebay and there are a couple on there. I have the 1972 version. It is a blue colored book. You can sometimes find them at Swap meets to.

I'm still looking for some detailed information on restoring a dash.

I found one fellow out here who wrote his experience on restoring his dash, but he only gives a link to his website where the write-up is...and he wants folks to pay him before reading it.

I try to use the "search" function before asking questions, but so far I've not had any luck finding any detailed information on restoring a dash.

When I bought my '70, one of the first books that I bought was the Chevelle SS Restoration Guide by Paul Herd. The title is a misnomer. It's not a restoration guide, it's an authentication guide. It's full of information on what makes an SS an SS, but if you are looking for "how to do it", this is not the book for you. It will tell you what's correct for an SS, but it won't tell you how to fix or restore it. I don't know if a step-by-step how to do it manual even exists that covers everything from mechanicals to electrical to upholstery. Somehow, I don't think so but I could be wrong. You would have better luck with a Chilton's Repair Manual.

Some of the larger catalog houses have extensive listings of books. Try looking there as well as e-bay. If you are going to buy books, the top three on your list should be the Factory Assembly Instruction Manual, the Chassis Service Manual and the Fisher Body Service Manual. If it's a question of what color/kind of paint should I use on my dash or where do I get vinyl paint to re-color my seats, Team Chevelle is the best source for that kind of information. If you have a question, you can alway ask. You can't do that with a book. The vast majority of information that I have used in working on my car has come from this web site. That and the three manuals mentioned above. Randy aka Louey said "that sometimes it's easier to look in a book" for information, rather than using this web site and I agree. That's why whenever I search for information or run across a thread that has valuable information that I might want to reference in the future, I print the thread or its' reply. I've got two 3" binders just chock full of information and it keeps growing.
