: Where Can I Use Silver POR-15 ?

I have 3 pints of silver POR-15.
Any suggestions on where I can use them on my newly acquired 68 Chevelle?

I have read that the silver POR-15 has metal filler in it and should be used on badly pitted or badly rusted surfaces.
My 68 is originally from New Mexico and has no badly pitted or rusted surfaces...in fact, it has essentially no rust at all.

I plan on gutting the interior out and redoing most of it and would like to put a coating of POR-15 on the interior floor pans, interior door surfaces, etc.
However, should I use this silver that I have, even though there is no rust or pitting on the metal? Or should I just get some black POR-15?

I'm just trying to find a use on my car for the silver POR-15 that I have.

Thanks.

I used it to paint the backside of my bumpers after they got rechromed .... I dont see any reason why you copuld not use on any area that you wont see .......floor pans etc

I used it on my trunk floor, as it was pitted but not rusted out.
Also on the sandblasted ralley rims, where they were pitted.

Also works good on spots of the frame where rust pits are in places where you can see, also on the bottom side of the gas tank. I used black POR on the top..

Agree withthe above...Just about anywhere. Unless its changed its not UV protected...I did my old tank years ago, LOVED the color...Thing is I left it on sawhorses for a few days, installed it. Noticed about a week later it started turning an olive drab color, guess even reflective light gets to it.
In that case use one of their topcoats..Other wise if it wont see daylight paint away, good stuff!

Pull out both front and rear windows ( If it has not been restored yet). Paint 2 coats in the bottom gutters. Before they rust from rain water trapped in them.

I like to use silver and then another coat of black. The contrasts ensure you get complete coverage as it's easy to see if you missed any spots.

yeah i did silver in my whole interior, then hit it with 3 coats of the black. looks great! good product. the POR-15 putty is awesome too, dries to cement.

Holds best on sand blasted work though.
Hadn't tried putting any over old paint how does it hold up?

Holds fine on old paint IF you scuff it real good with 80 grit or so. On a slick surface it literally will peel off in a sheet. Like Greg said, it's best on blasted surface. It reminds me more of a plastic coating rather then paint.
