If you never transported this is what you get from Reliable Carriers.

Is that the husband and wife team? I've heard great things about the care they take with your car.

Looks like they did a good job. What's a tree limb here or there? Those are big ass trucks. How could they avoid that type of thing?
I would love to work along side my girl.

I'm just not sure what you were saying? Was it a good experience? or was the Tree Limb you mentioned because somehow they took out a tree loading your car?? I assumed you were happy but when you mentioned look at the trim limb.. I wondered is all.. sorry.

did i get a little carried away? heck i was 17 and this was my FIRST CAR... i didnt even get my licence until a week later, i even drove it home!!

the truck driver really wanted me to do a burnout before he left but, i thought i was pushing my luck by already driving without a licence, so i said sorry.

Do you happen to know what kind of car is that red one the first pic? My buddy just sold his BOSS 429 and it was just picked up last Sunday.Just wondering if this could be it.

Thanks I might be looking into this soon HOWEVER I'd like to know if there's any "do it yourself" car transporters, where you rent the truck and haul the car yourself.

And no i dont have a way of towing a u-haul trailer cross country.

The red car you see was on 7-11-07. Can't remember what it was but there was a $800,000 Shelby convertible on the truck going to Downingtown, Pa.

Whats the cost of having your car transported? To specific locations quote, mileage.. etc.?

dubby
Dec 17th, 07, 7:36 AM
Chicago to Williamsport, Pa. about 800+ miles $850. What they normally do is pick your car up and take it to a regional site and wait for other cars going to that area. Mine took 2 weeks from pick up date to delivery.

Do these car transporting companies take all measures possible to prevent someone from stealing your car while in their possession?

Dec 17th, 07, 4:06 PM
This is what I was told. After car was picked up it was taken to Detroit to a regional warehouse which has security. Once they had enough for a load it was loaded and shipped. As for overnight when on the road I guess they can only padlock the trailer. A good question would be do you have a security system on the trailer?

I have shipped a couple of cars through Reliable. In both cases i dropped the cars of at their depot in Canton MI. Nice secure facility. Many very high dollar cars in building. Both cars arrived safe & sound.

Nice but no cigar !

This is how my 39 arrived on Intercity Transport. Covered with a car cover AND wrapped in plastic:thumbsup:.

The car never left the truck. They picked it up and they delivered it from the same spot on the truck. Having your car unloaded is the best way to get it damaged.

About a buck a mile and well worth it.

I friend of mine used a transport company that ships from terminal to terminal. At one of the stops some employees had a blast with his 1965. It arrived to the destination which rubber all over the rear quarters and a blown transmission. He is still going through hell filing a claim for the damages.

To ship off my old 89 C4 I used a one man open trailer deal the buyer knew well. Retired car guy, was reasonable and delivered it on time, even washed it for the guy before dropping it off. Takes your chances....

I saw (cant remember the name, it was one of the larger ones) about 6 mos ago some kid had pulled his transporter off on a side street, unloaded someones brand new C6Z06 and proceed to beat it to death up and down the streetfor about 15 minutes. After almost putting it in the curb he finally pulled it back on the transporter and left.

Watched the whole thing and called it in, Iwould be livid if I paid that much for a car to learn it had already been beaten on. Right after a cold start, too. :(
