I just painted my 454 with Dupli-Color #1620 Chevy Orange.I was looking at getting the GMPP aluminum BB valve covers but was wondering about the shade of orange on them. Some pictures look more like a red-orange rather than orange.Does anyone have or seen these covers in person?

Thank-You.

Here's pic that might help, they look same as the Chevy orange that the engine block is painted. As far as I am concerned, they are orange and definitely not red.

I agree. I have the black ones on mine, but all the orange ones I've seen are definately orange. And on a side note, do the orange ones have the holes for the PCV/Breather and baffles built in? I know my black ones didn't and they were a PITA to do. But they look so

Yes, they have the holes. I ran stock breather return to air cleaner off of the passenger side (can see nipple in the picture) and PCV off of the driver side.

I got the covers thru Scoggins Dickey some time ago...not sure where I'd go today.

Engine is a 468. Fuel pump is a Racepump by Howard Stewart...as is the regulator just above it. Waterpump is also a Stewart unit.

I just bought the natural finish ones and painted them with the same Duplicolor orange that I used on the engine.

Use a zinc self-etching primer in a spray can (2 coats) then spray with your orange paint. Use 220 sandpaper on a block to knock the paint off the Chevrolet letters when it dries. Then, spray 2 or 3 coats of Hi-Temp clear over the whole valve cover.

Mine came out beautiful, and are an exact color match to the block.:D

Very easy!
