: two wheel spacers illegal for TNT nights?

I couldn't find anything about this on the LVD or NED websites, so I was wondering if anyone could chime in.
I have super long moroso, nice strong wheel studs, so I am OK with the supposed safety risk of using two spacers.
here is the problem.. the pair of wheels my 26" ET streets sit on I absolutely HATE the way the lug nuts work, and if the wheels weren't light I would have killed them by now.
I have a set of 15" bart wheels with deeper backspacing that use the regular tapered style lug nut.
Except they don't clear my disk brakes, while these other wheels with next to no backspacing do (with my old lowering springs, the 26" ET streets used to rub a little).
I was playing around the other day after switching back to my street wheels because I got the idea that there will be no more sunny wednesdays in my near fututure and I need to drive my car, and while I will on the ET streets, I don't like to.
But the wheels won't clear w/o using 2 wheel spacers on each side to clear the brake calipers.
Is this legal to race in at a TNT night? So I can lose the wheels I hate?

I'm not positive but at around here NO spacers are allowed, may not be NHRA/IHRA rules but local rules anyway say no-way.

Matt,
Trash the spacers !
First of all, they are not legal in NHRA or IHRA tech. They may or may not catch them in tech, but they are dangerous anyway.
Most important of all ... do you want a wheel coming off at 120 mph  Even if you manage to survive, how about the guy in the other lane , or maybe a spectator ???????

I read the 2004 NHRA rule book and it says that wheel spacers are ALLOWED. I was looking into it as well.

section 16 5:2 Wheels

"Wheel Spacer Permitted. Spacer to be either hub-centric or lug enctric and must fit with minimal clearence to retain concentricity. The wheel spacer must not reduce the minimum allowable thread engagement below the legal limits established by faster diameter. No stacking of wheel spacer allowed."

what he said, there is nothing wrong with running a wheel spacer as long as the studs remain the coorect length to pass tech. thats how us guys with 68 and newer velles run 67 and older diff housings graemlins/beers.gif

do they make an SFI approved spacer? I sure would'nt run those cheap aluminum ones  Can't you just get the right offset on your wheels and get the fit you want without the spacer?

I would defintaely get a wheel with the right spacing, but for mine I was needing about .250" if I changed rims. And Rob, I agree with you I wouldn't run those cheap spacers, I would probably have some billet ones made out of 6160-T6 aluminum I were to use any.

Mark Williams Enterprises make nice billet ones - and yes, they are allowed.

You did't say what kind of spacer you are using, but if it's a "straight through" type, I wouldn't even consider it. The ones I run are 2" thick, but have Moroso studs in them. So I have to bolt the spacers to the car, then the wheel to the spacer. It doesn't matter how strong your studs are, if you have the nut 2"+ out from the base, it will weaken the stud. Also, mine are 6061 aluminum. I made these, but they can be bought from a number of sources. Good Luck.
