it was the name of the chevelle before it was chevelle. supposedly right up until production. anyone have info on this? i am researching for a possible book, thanks...

Funny, I always thought it was originally "Gazelle", but chevy wanted the brand name stuck in there and came up with "Chevelle" instead.

You are correct. It almost went to production as a Corselle. It started out looking loke a large Nova. We did a page on it on our Chevelle Club web site.
