I took off my stock water pump and want to take the pulley off. It has an aluminum fan spacer on it. I can't figure out how the SOB comes off. I tried twisting it - thinking the spacer was screwed into the pulley, but the spacer turns and the fan mounting plate (with the bolt holes in it) below the pulley spins with it while I hold the pulley from turning. I have tried everything but hitting it with a Ford Wrench (aka sledge hammer). I'm sure it comes right off somehow, but I'm scratching my head.

If I remember correctly. When I removed my flex fan spacer, After removing the bolts I had to tap the spacer with a small hammer to pop it free from the pump shaft.

there should be nothing but friction holding it on - mebbe use a 'little' Ford wrench!

Thanks, guys. I didn't want to start whacking at it and find out it was bolted from the back or something crazy!! I'll use my Ford Festiva wrench then. LOL

tap it, don't hammer it.

It wasn't a dumb question. It was smart of you to ask. You sometimes never know until something breaks, then you wished you would have asked.
