When shopping for wheels how can I tell if they will clear the caliper? It seems TTII's need a spacer to clear the front of the caliper, is that correct? I assume none of the straight spoke styles will clear. I am looking for an "old school" looking wheel I can run without spacers with the LS1 brakes. Any suggestions? Is there a specification wheel mfg. use to show caliper clearance? I tried searching wheels that fit LS1 Camaro's but they have crazy offset and are mostly ugly. Anyway, if you have any idea's for me, let me know.
Thanks, Murf

Maybe try Vintage Wheel Works...
I had their V40 (straight spoke) on C5 Vette brakes, and they were pretty close... I did run a thin (1/8") spacer just to insure they wouldn't scratch the "pretty" calipers... Not sure how much C5 brakes differ from LS1s... I know these same wheels were run on a 1LE Camaro, but again, not sure on the brake differences...
I recall the closest area wasn't the spokes, but actually part of the casting where the center-section was welded to the barrel (these were 17-inch rims)... still tight on the spoke area though...
What about having hub-centric spacers machined? Ideally, no spacers would be best, but just curious why you are against any spacer?

If you haven't already bought the parts and you plan on using the C5 calipers you can gain some clearance and save youself some money if you buy plain pbr calipers. They don't have the corvette logo which gains you a bit of clearance but are the exact some design caliper.

I can only speak for the rears - the C5 and LS1 calipers are identical - The C5 rotor has 1/2" less hat depth, and the abutment has the matching rotor offset.
Page down in this post and you'll see the two calipers side by side...
