: Big block into 67 Chevelle - what are my valve cover options?

I am making plans to put a big block in my 67 chevelle in place of a small block.
I am researching what I want for valve covers. My first pick will be tall cast aluminum covers of some sort. I have read that some covers won't work with power brakes (which I have an 11" OD booster).

Can anyone give me direction to what my options are? Am I stuck with short aluminum covers, or factory style steel covers?

Any help appreciated. Pictures would work good too!

Thanks,
Tom

You could change the brake booster out for a smaller dual diaphram model to give you more room.

I was wondering if that would be an option, and how much additional clearance it would provide?

Has anyone done this?

I am just finishing the same conversion, I went with a old set of Micky Thompson cast aluminum covers and they fit fine, some room to spare but not room for a "tall cover". I did a little research on the options, you can get vacuume diaphram deals for a couple hunder bucks that are 8" diameter and yield similar pressure by using dual diaphrams, or you can get a hydrailic assist deal that usses power steering pump pressure to assist. That is the way I want to go as it works super and frees up a lot of space but I have that on hold as I want to finish the projects I have now before starting another

Here is a picture of some great looking valve covers but, sorry, I don't have power brakes.

Tom it will work with tall valve covers. I first put a slight indention in the upper rear corner of the v cover which went unnoticed. I later changed over to a smaller B booster. Good luck with your install.

I have the short cast Aluminum ball milled polished JEGS brand covers on a 454 with a full 11" booster and have plenty of room above them. They were only $100 and I'll bet they are actually Billet Specialties covers. They do not have a name or logo on ethem and look good. They also come in tall.

Herb,
Those are the ones that I have had my eye on.
I would like them better if they were chromed rather than polished. Keeping them polished is a never ending job.
Do you have any pictures?

Thanks

Jegs brand ball milled covers and Billet Specialties valve breathers and wire looms.
Best pics I can offer right now.

I was wondering if the stock chrome valve covers were good fro a rebuild with roller rockers? I am also going with power disc brakes. I heard that the stock covers might be too small for this application. Any one know???
