I found a 65 in Modesto CA that may be the one. I am pretty excited about it and have been looking for one for quite some time. I need to get back into a Chevelle!!! I would be willing to pay someone to go give it a look over. Thanks a bunch. 619-708-3173

Looks like your near San Diego... road trip it!

I drove 5 hours to get my Chevelle based on two not-so-great pictures and a long conversation with the seller. If you decide it's the one... rent a U-Haul and trailer it home!

If you or anyone goes out to look at it post pictures/VIN#/body tag # before you make any deal. I'm sure someone on this site will be able to help.

Well, it is a 65 all restored. I was thinking about road tripping it. They sent me a lot of photos and I think this is the one. I hope no one would snake me on the deal though. How much is a uhaul trailer to bring it back? Would you recommend just paying a transport company? I got a quote for $600-700. I can't submit a pic for some reason. I think I have to be a paid member, which I will be once i get this car.

I posted an ad on craigslist asking if anyone would transport if for a fee. Would you recommend this or go with a commercial transporter?

Hey Brian,
If you are free Saturday or Sunday I will go with you. I won't accept any money though. (Brian is young and broke. Give the money to him, LOL).

DJ, UHaul won't rent a trailer unless you have a 1 ton truck.

Call me at home if you want to do it, Brian.

U-Haul will rent you an Auto-Transport trailer if you have a 1/2 ton pickup. I got a one-way U-Haul for right at $100.00. I towed it behind my Nissan Titan without issue!

The car looks good! How many duckets do you think you can get it for?

Towed one behind my Durango. Just tell them you are hauling a Cavalier or something, they won't let you haul a heavier car with a lighter truck. I got tired of dealing with UHaul and bought an open car trailer. I think the amount of times I use it has made up for the $100.00 a day.

Good point. If you go the U-Haul route, don't tell them you're hauling a Chevelle. I made the mistake of telling them that I was and they didn't want to let me take the trailer (they said it was too big to fit --- it fit fine). I ended up getting it without issue... bunch of losers working at the U-Haul in Richmond, CA.

Just be safe... tie the car down good, check the brakes and run 55MPH.

Hey guys. I called u-haul and I they told me they wouldn't rent me the car transporter because I only have a tacoma prerunner. Weight issue. I called before I read your posts. That is fine, I wouldn't want to chance it anyway. Good thing is my best friend from college wants to take a road trip so we are blasting up there on Sat. If everything checks out with the car and the car picks me, I am buying it. Some of you mentioned interest in checking it out for me. I really appreciate it. If any of you want to meet me there to give me your two cents it would be appreciated. I will buy you lunch at a nice place for your insite. I know enough about 65's having owned one but a lot of you guys are experts on here. Hopefully all will go well and I will be an active member again.

I contacted an auto transporter and they will ship the car for $500. Not too bad. No hassle ship to my door.

I will talk to Brian about it but, if you are coming up anyway I am not sure what value we add. I will talk to him. I would be glad to do it for you but, if you are coming up, I have lots to do around here. We may pass on the trip. Heck, it will be 3/4 of a tank in my 67 LOL. Besides, Brian has lots to do on his car as well.
