Has anyone run flat top pistons with a combustion chamber size of about 106cc ??? (in a 454) Im trying to figure what CR I will be near. I have a set of heads I can use, they are 106cc...Im going to have to use flat top pistons to get my engine back together if I want to run it the rest of this season..(budget is gone)but Im thinking my CR is going to be way low...I would be OK with a little more than 9 :1, but Im not sure this will give me even that much. I know I cant get an exact figure, but Im just trying to get a general idea. Any takers??

Johnny, using Pat's calculator, .010" deck height .039 gasket , gets it right about 9.

Johnny,
You can always do a flat mill to the heads and get the chambers down to around 100cc.
Maybe .030"-.035" off the heads should get you there, have the block decked to around .010" -.015", install a .022" steel shim head gasket and you will be right at 9.75 scr. graemlins/hurray.gif

Gene, thanks...I was going to try that calculator, but havn't had a chance yet...just got done moving and Im still living out of boxes in my office!! That's why I havn't even touched the car since the "incident".
Darren, shoot me an email with your phone number again, I misplaced the original one in the move. Do it thru here, cause the other email address is no longer. John
