I have a stock rear set up in my 69 (Open upper and lower control arms with rubber bushings), but just added a 12 bolt posi. (Car originally had an open 10)

This is my first car with a posi and I noticed during a burn out the car "hooks" to the left.
Will a sway bar help straighten that "left hook" out?

Also getting mild wheel hop and I have been trying to gather info so I don't spend the money where it's not needed.
Was thinking of going with boxed lowers w/poly bushings first and see if that helps the hop.

As for the straighting out the launch I will wait to read some replies to see if you all think the sway bar would help.
Not draging racing this car, just trying to straighten out the launch and wheel hop.

Thanks

Harry,
I think you answered your own question in the first sentence...
You'll need to replace the original rubber bushings in the rear control arms. Also, boxing the lowers will help reduce wheel hop.
Plus, if you are considering a rear sway bar (good idea), you'll need the lowers boxed.

Thanks I thought so too.

Will this help "straighten" the left hook i'm getting as well?

Sorry for the dumb questions, It's just that i'm on a tighet budget(liar !!,i'm already over) as I sunk a wad of money into the car and now it's coming down to the strecth.
The boss know it too. !! graemlins/angry.gif

Wheel hop was an easy fix for us. New lower upper control arms and new rear end busings solved that very fast.

I am not a good rear expert (well in cars anyway ;) ) but form what I have experinced in many different cars, the posi-tract rears when under acceleration usually spin the tires while throwing the butt end of your car one way or the other, while a non posi rear will stay straight. This happens all the time to me, even with the sway bar. The sway bar did more to combat body role during cornering than anything else.

There is nothing wrong with the ass end getting away from you on a whole shot, its just dont smoke 'em while in narrow spaces.
